Last weekend, I finally set foot in Batam after at least 10 years! And wow, what a transformation. The island has developed so much since the last time I visited. The roads are wider, there's barely any traffic, and the vibe—especially in the Harbour Bay area—almost feels like I’m in Singapore. It was such a pleasant surprise to see how modern and organized everything has become.
But let me tell you, the real highlight of my trip was staying at the Marriott Batam Hotel Harbour Bay. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this was going to be a luxurious experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming—genuinely friendly in that effortless way that makes you feel special. They even knew my name, which instantly made it feel more personal. Now that's what I call five-star service!
My room was nothing short of spectacular. Spacious, comfortable, and with all the amenities you could ever need. The best part? A stunning view of the pool and the ocean from Harbour Bay right outside my window. Waking up to that view every morning felt like an absolute dream. I could have stayed in that room forever, but there was so much more to explore.
Speaking of which, Marriott Batam is a foodie’s paradise with so many dining options. Two of my favorite spots? Altitude, the rooftop restaurant, is perfect for a relaxed night out with live music and jaw-dropping views of the city lights. The grilled salmon and tiramisu were unforgettable! I highly recommend both if you visit.
Then there’s Jiang He, their Chinese restaurant, and let me tell you, they serve the best nasi goreng I’ve ever tasted—seriously. And don’t even get me started on their salted egg bakpao. If you love that sweet-salty combo, this dish is to die for. I would go back to Batam just for that.
Beyond the food, the hotel has everything to keep you entertained and relaxed. There's a full-service spa (which I definitely took advantage of), a gym with all the equipment you need to stay fit, and even an outdoor park area to take a peaceful stroll.
All in all, it was the best experience I’ve had in a while. If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway that offers luxury, comfort, and great food, Marriott Batam should be on your list.
